Santos Cler formed in Portugal in 2002 with Vítor Rodrigues on lead vocals and guitar, Carlos Braz on drums, Diogo Ribeiro on keyboards and backing vocals, and André Castro on bass. They put out their first album in 2006, a self-titled release that set up their mix of pop, rock, and folk.
Songs like 'Sexta Feira' and 'Pode Entrar' show their way with melody and lyrics that lean into personal themes. Their later albums, including 'Tons de Cinza' in 2008 and 'O Amor É Mais' in 2013, kept that sound going. Some of their writing has drawn attention for how it handles social issues.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
