Sara Correia was born in Almada in 1993 and grew up with fado, the traditional Portuguese music. She started singing early, influenced by fado singers like Amália Rodrigues and Celeste Rodrigues.
Her second album 'Rosa' arrived in 2018 and included the song 'Quadras Soltas,' which became one of her better-known tracks. She put out a third album called 'Do Coração' in 2021. She works with musicians like Pedro Amendoeira on Portuguese guitar and Jorge Fernando on viola.
Some of her other songs include 'Dizer Não,' 'Zé Maria,' 'O Porquê do Fado,' and 'Hoje.' She's mentioned facing some pushback as a woman in fado, which has often been male-dominated, but kept going with her own approach.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
