Sarah Jezebel Deva was born in Bristol, England in 1977. She joined Cradle of Filth in 1999 as their vocalist, appearing on albums like 'Midian' and 'Damnation and a Day' before leaving the band in 2003.
After leaving Cradle of Filth, she began releasing solo material. Her 2009 album 'A Matter of Convenience' included the title track and songs like 'The Devil's Opera' and 'A Newborn Failure.' She followed it with 'The Corruption of Mercy' in 2011 and 'The Way That I Long for Is Falling Apart' in 2015.
Her voice brought an ethereal presence to the metal she worked on, though she took a break in 2004 due to health issues. The music she made on her own often blended gothic rock and opera elements with heavier sounds.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
