Sarajane formed in São Paulo in 1999, taking their name from the Brazilian singer Sarajane. The band's lineup included vocalist Camila Costa, guitarist Fábio Sá, percussionist Alexandre Monteiro, and bassist Marcos Suzano. Their self-titled debut album came out in 2003, mixing samba, reggae, and bossa nova.
Songs like "A Roda" and "Vale" show their approach to Brazilian rhythms. They followed that debut with albums like "Praia" in 2006, "Nova" in 2010, and "Deixa o Mundo Girar" in 2013. Their music sometimes incorporates jazz and folk elements while keeping a foundation in traditional styles.
They've toured internationally, though their career has included some challenges along the way.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
