Isao Sasaki started singing in the early 1970s, and by 1978 he was recording the opening theme for the anime series Daimos. That song, 'Boku-ra No Daimos,' became his most recognizable track, with a melody that stuck with fans of the show. He also sang 'Fumetsu Machine Getter Robot' and 'Getta Robo' for other anime series around that time.
His voice had a certain power that worked well for those kinds of theme songs, the sort that needed to match the energy of a robot battle or a superhero team. He wasn't just doing anime themes, though he's remembered for them. He kept recording through the '70s and into the '80s, putting out albums and singles that sometimes leaned into pop or rock.
Sasaki also hosted some music shows on television, which gave him a presence beyond the recording studio. The schedule could be demanding, but he kept at it. You can hear him on songs like 'Himitsu Sentai Goranger' and 'Kimi No Senshun Wa Kagayaite Iru Ka?', which have that same earnest, driving quality he was known for.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
