Saskia En Serge

Saskia & Serge were a Dutch duo that formed in 1983, with Saskia Laroo singing and Serge van Oostrum playing guitar, bass, and percussion. They released six studio albums, starting with their self-titled debut that included 'Elke Dag Een Lach.' That song became their most recognizable track, a straightforward pop-folk tune that connected with Dutch listeners in the 1980s.

Later albums like 'Wereld op Stelten' and 'Vrije Vogels' showed them working with a broader range of sounds, though some critics found their approach too simple. Serge's public statements about immigration policy in the late 1980s drew accusations of racism, and his drug problems became part of the band's story. Their music still gets played, especially 'Elke Dag Een Lach,' but the duo's run was marked by those controversies as much as by their songs.
