Satellite Party formed in 2005 with Dave Pirner from Soul Asylum at the front. They put out three albums: Ultraviolet in 2005, Two in 2008, and Letters from the Sun in 2012. The song 'Awesome' came from that second record.
Their music had some electronic touches and folk elements mixed in with the rock. Pirner's writing stayed introspective, and the band included players like guitarist Ryan Smith, bassist Tommy Stinson, and drummer Michael Bland.
They dealt with some financial trouble and a lawsuit around 2007, but kept making records. The songs 'Milky Ave,' 'Hard Life Easy,' and 'Kinky' show the range they worked in, from moody to more direct.
