Saulo de Tarso came out of Guarulhos, Brazil, with a straightforward approach to Christian rock. Their 1997 album included the song 'Fiel,' which became something of an anthem in certain circles. They followed it with records like 'Deus Cria' in 1999 and 'Vida' in 2001, sticking to themes of faith and redemption without much fuss.
Their music sometimes drew criticism from more conservative quarters, who questioned their approach. The band kept at it, releasing an acoustic live album in 2003. Saulo Fernandes handled the lead vocals.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
