Saulo Duarte formed his band Unidade in 1995 in Salvador, Bahia. Their debut album 'América Latina' came out in 2002, with the track 'Que Massa' becoming one of their most recognizable songs.
Their music draws from Afro-Brazilian traditions, with songs like 'Flores Pelo Ar' and 'Na Terra Vermelha' reflecting both rhythmic energy and social awareness. They've worked with artists including Gilberto Gil and Caetano Veloso.
Later albums like 'A Força do Povo' in 2004 and 'Santo Forte' in 2019 continued their pattern of blending musical styles with commentary. They recorded a live set at Rio's Circo Voador in 2006.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
