Editor's note

Saving Jane's pop-punk heart from Texas

The Dallas band behind 'Girl Next Door' kept playing straightforward guitar songs for years.

If you want their sound in two songs, try 'Girl Next Door' and 'Supergirl.' Both have that uncomplicated guitar energy they never really left behind.

Their 2006 debut 'Girl Next Door' gave them a hit that traveled beyond Texas, a pop-punk track that still shows up in their setlists. Songs like 'Supergirl' and 'Who's Cryin' Now' stick to their guitar-driven style without much fuss. They've been the same four members playing shows since 2011, which says something about staying power.

They formed in Dallas in 2003 and put out 'Girl Next Door' three years later. After drummer Ryan Clark left in 2008, they released 'Something More' and kept going with Jake Breece on drums. Their last album was 2011's 'Unreleased,' but they've kept playing shows with the same lineup since.

Saving Jane formed in Dallas in 2003 with Chris Chesser on vocals, Cory Churko on guitar and vocals, Matt Cross on bass, and Ryan Clark on drums. Their 2006 debut album 'Girl Next Door' gave them their biggest hit with the title track, a pop-punk song that found an audience beyond Texas.

After Clark left in 2008, Jake Breece joined on drums. The band released 'Something More' that same year, followed by a greatest hits collection in 2010. Their songs like 'Who's Cryin' Now' and 'Better Day' kept to their straightforward, guitar-driven style.

They put out one more album in 2011 called 'Unreleased' and have kept playing shows with the same four members since then.
