Scars of My Eyes formed in Santos, Brazil in 2006, started by Rafael Mendes on vocals and Marcelo Amaral on guitar. They released their debut album 'The Nuance Between' in 2013. The band's 2016 album 'Enterre As Memórias', which translates to 'Bury the Memories', became a notable point in their catalog. They've since put out 'The Broken Arc' in 2018 and 'Perennial' in 2021.
The lineup has mostly stayed consistent with Mendes and Amaral joined by Bruno Wambier on bass and Paulo Cesar on drums. Saxophonist Daniel Ribas has also contributed to their sound. They've worked with other musicians like vocalist Angela Gossow and guitarist Richie Cavalera at times.
Their lyrics often touch on personal and social themes, including mental health and inequality. In 2017, the song 'The World's on Fire' addressed the Syrian refugee crisis directly.
