Scatus formed in 1991 with vocalist João Gordo, guitarist Juninho Afram, bassist Marcelo D2, and drummer Fábio Golfetti. Their debut album 'Anjos da Noite' came out in 1994, a time when grunge and alternative rock were gaining ground. They stuck with their metal sound anyway.
In 1997, the band released 'A Batalha Final,' which included the title track that became popular with metal fans in Brazil. The album helped them get more attention and led to tours. They also put out songs like 'Apocalipse 20 e 21' and 'Livre Arbítrio' around this period.
Scatus released five studio albums total, including 'Violência' in 2000 and 'A Nova Era' later on. Their lyrics sometimes touched on politics and religion, which drew criticism from some conservative groups. They kept writing what they wanted despite that pushback.
