Am Abend wenn's schwal wird, flieh'n wir das Gemach
und steigen durch's Fenster hinaus auf das Dach,
dann schauen wir nach unser'm Dachkrauterbeet,
in die Dachrinne haben wir Schnittlauch gesat.
Da sitzen wir manchmal und spielen eins auf,
vom Flua klingt das Tuten der Schlepper herauf.
Am Gaterbahnhof werden Zage rangiert,
ein Alter fahrt unten den Hund durch's Geviert.

Die halzernen Dielen sprechen zu Dir,
in den Schranken riecht man noch das Mottenpapier.
Vaters alte Maschine tippt immer noch treu,
auch das Bett hat Geschichte, nur das Laken ist neu.
Der Duft hier nach Tabak und manchmal nach Wein,
das Zimmer kann Zuflucht und Arbeitsplatz sein.
Die schragen Wande - ein bergendes Zelt,
das Fenster zum Himmel die Tare zur Welt.
