Scott Weiland sang for Stone Temple Pilots, the band that put out albums like Core in 1992 and Purple in 1994. He had a hand in writing songs like Interstate Love Song and Sour Girl. The band's sound had a grunge feel that caught on in the 1990s.
Weiland also made a couple of solo records, 12 Bar Blues in 1998 and Happy in Galoshes in 2008. He worked with other musicians too, including Slash and Sebastian Bach. His personal life was complicated by drug problems and some legal trouble, including a heroin possession arrest in 1995.
