Broken Morning

In the broken morning,

When the streets were weary and bare,

We stood talking about the empty town

And the people who once lived there.

Through a shade of memory

Came a flash of peace of mind

>From days before the complex took the land,

When there was more world and time.

We had all the time in the world

To walk down the road and have a story told.

We had all the time in the world,

While the forest grew and the river still was flowin'.

We watched the city wakening

To fill with robot kings and pawns,

Walking round in the shadow of their days;

Broken morning will soon be gone,

And the evening will not be long.

Come the dawning we'll see the sun
