Sebastian Silva came up in Medellín, Colombia, and eventually fronted the electro-cumbia band Descontrol. The group formed around 2009, and their sound mixed traditional Colombian rhythms with electronic production. Their debut single "Descontrolate" broke through in 2011, becoming a hit across Latin America.
Silva's lyrics and stage presence sometimes stirred things up. He wrote about nightlife and desire in ways that felt direct, and some listeners found it provocative. He didn't really back down from that, saying the songs reflected parts of the city's reality. Other tracks like "Roast Yourself Challenge" and "Tan Sola" kept that same energy going.
Descontrol put out a few albums in the 2010s, including 'Descontrol' in 2011 and 'El Ritmo de la Noche' a couple years later. The band's lineup included Felipe Salmiento on bass, Jairo Camargo on guitar, and Juan David Galvez on drums.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
