Secret Garden

Secret Garden is an Irish-Norwegian duo of Fionnuala Sherry and Rolf Løvland. Sherry plays harp and sings, while Løvland writes and plays piano. Their music has a Celtic feel, with harp melodies and piano harmonies that sound both traditional and contemporary.

Their debut album 'Songs from a Secret Garden' came out in 1995 and included 'Sleepsong,' which became their most recognizable piece. Other albums like 'White Stones' and 'Dreamcatcher' continued in that vein, mixing original compositions with Celtic folk elements. Songs like 'Nocturne' and 'You Raise Me Up' show their knack for simple, melodic arrangements that work in both quiet solo settings and with larger orchestras.

They've had some of their music used in films and television, which helped spread their sound beyond the usual Celtic music listeners. The duo's work stays mostly instrumental, with occasional vocals, and keeps a consistent mood across their recordings, calm, slightly nostalgic, and built around Sherry's harp and Løvland's piano lines.
