Segle XIII formed in the early 2000s, coming out of the hardcore punk band La Inquisició. Roger Mas and Jordi Vallespín started it, with Mas on guitar and vocals and Vallespín on drums. They played in underground clubs and DIY venues early on, building a following without much industry support.
Their debut album in 2006 was called "Desperta Ferro," and the title track became a well-known anthem in Catalan rock. The band's lyrics often dealt with political themes, which sparked some debate. Other songs from their catalog include "Entre dos móns" and "Guerra de Foc."
Over time, the lineup expanded to include Marc Riera on bass and Joan Colomo on guitar and vocals. They kept making music that blended heavy rock with punk energy, staying active in the Catalan scene.
