Selton formed in São Paulo in the early 2000s with André Gabeh on vocals and guitar, Lucas Silveira on vocals and bass, and Heitor Gomes on drums. They released their self-titled debut album in 2003, followed by 'Paraíso' in 2006 and 'O Ano do Macaco' in 2008. That third album included 'Be Water,' which became one of their most recognizable songs.
In 2009, their song 'Não Vá Embora' drew some censorship attention, though it still found an audience. They kept putting out records, with 'Alegoria' arriving in 2011 and 'Singular' in 2013. Their catalog includes tracks like 'Luna in Riviera' and 'Across The Sea,' which share the melodic, layered feel of their earlier work.
Their sound pulls from indie rock and electronic touches, built around vocal harmonies and lyrics that often lean toward the reflective.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
