Selva Branca da Bahia formed in Santo Amaro da Purificação, Bahia, with members Ivete Sangalo, Tatau, Dito, and Lázaro. Their sound drew from samba, reggae, and axé, and songs like "Estrela Guia" and "Agora a Saudade Bateu" became popular in the 1990s and early 2000s.
They released albums including "Estrela Guia" in 1995, "Canto da Terra" in 1998, and "O Canto da Saudade" in 2002. Their lyrics often dealt with love and loss, as heard in tracks like "A Gente Nunca Disse Adeus" and "Além do Infinito."
Early on, some critics found their blend of styles too experimental. There was also a plagiarism claim about "Samba da Bahia," which the band said was based on a traditional folk tune. They kept making music through those disputes.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
