Semi Precious Weapons

Semi Precious Weapons started in 2002 when Justin Tranter and Cole Whittle met at New York University. They put together a sound that mixed punk, glam, and electro, which picked up a cult following without fitting neatly into one genre. Their debut album 'We Love You' came out in 2006, and songs like 'Aviation High' and 'Magnetic Baby' carried a raw, energetic feel that resonated with listeners looking for something a bit rebellious.

In 2010, their record label went bankrupt, leaving them without that support. They kept going independently and released 'You Love You' in 2012. Tracks such as 'Can't Pay My Rent But I'm Fucking Gorgeous' and 'Bleed to Heal' reflected their unapologetic, flamboyant style, which sometimes drew criticism but stayed true to their vision. Their music didn't chase mainstream trends, instead holding onto that gritty, defiant edge that defined their earlier work.

By 2014, they had put out 'Aviation High' as an album, continuing with the same spirited approach. The band's live shows were known for being high-energy and provocative, matching the tone of songs like 'Cherries On Ice'. They built a dedicated fanbase through relentless touring and a sound that felt authentically their own, without ever softening their unconventional stance.
