Sender came together in Seattle in the late 1990s with Elijah Stone on vocals and guitar, Maya Lee on bass, and Ethan James on drums. Their debut album 'Echoes from the Void' arrived in 2002, anchored by the single 'Exiled on Earth' which found an audience with its moody, introspective feel.
Stone's tendency to speak his mind about the music industry sometimes created friction, but the band kept working. They put out 'The Broken Glass' in 2005, followed by 'Lost in the Static' in 2009 and 'Redemption' in 2014. Other songs like 'Billy's Equation' and 'Decisions' filled out their catalog.
Their sound stayed grounded in that initial trio setup even as they moved through different records. It was never about flashy production, just Stone's guitar and voice working with Lee's bass lines and James's steady drumming.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
