Senhores Cafetões formed in Rio de Janeiro in the late 1960s, a group of young musicians who mixed samba rhythms with soul influences. Their 1971 debut album 'Domingo de Sol' gave them their breakthrough, with the title track becoming one of their most recognizable songs.
They had other popular tracks like 'Cinderela' and 'Beijo Na Boca' that showed their blend of Brazilian rhythms with a soulful edge. Their music sometimes drew criticism from traditionalists who felt they were straying too far from conventional samba.
By the mid-1970s they had released several albums including 'Bahia de Todos os Deuses' in 1973. Their sound remained rooted in that samba-soul fusion that first defined them.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
