Background notes

Archive material and source history

Sepulcro formed in Brazil in 1984, playing thrash metal with a raw intensity. Their early work included the 1986 debut "Morbid Visions," which helped establish them in the Brazilian metal scene. Songs like "Expiration" and "Malevolence" capture that aggressive sound.

Max Cavalera handled vocals and rhythm guitar in the early years, with Igor Cavalera on lead guitar, Paulo Jr. on bass, and João Gordo on drums. Max left in 1989 to form Soulfly, and Igor departed in 1996. The band continued with new members, including Andreas Kisser on lead guitar at one point.

Their discography includes albums like "Schizophrenia" (1987), "Beneath the Remains" (1989), "Arise" (1991), "Chaos A.D." (1993), and "Roots" (1996).
