Sergio Danilo is a Brazilian heavy metal musician who formed his eponymous band in 2003 with guitarists Thiago Pinheiro and André Mellado, bassist Vagner Rossi, and drummer Paulo "Pinga" Mendes. They came out of São Paulo, where Danilo grew up listening to bands like Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, and Sepultura.
In 2007, the band released their debut album "Lamentos de um Sonhador," which included the song "A Sepultura Se Abriu." That track became their most recognizable work, with its heavy sound and lyrics that touch on faith and loss. Other songs like "Deu Sua Vida Por Mim" and "É Jesus" show a similar thematic focus.
Around 2010, there were some accusations about occultism in the music, which the band denied by pointing to their Christian faith as inspiration. The lineup has changed a few times since the beginning, but Danilo has remained the frontman through those shifts.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
