Sergio-SalleS-oigerS was a Brazilian trio formed in the 1960s by Sérgio Sampaio, Augusto de Campos, and Luiz Tatit, who met at the University of São Paulo. They released albums like "O Sonho de Antônio" in 1971 and "A Trama do Tempo" in 1975, with music that mixed Brazilian popular styles, rock, and experimental touches. Their songwriting often leaned toward poetic lyrics, with Sampaio handling lead vocals and guitar, de Campos contributing lyrics and percussion, and Tatit on bass and vocals.
Their best-known track is "Antes Que Chova...... Depois Que Chova...", a ballad that became widely recognized in Brazil. Other songs in their catalog include "A Eternidade Dura Quantos Anos?!?", "Blá Blá Blá Blá Blá Blá Blá Blá (New Punk Rock Psycho Killer)", and "Chiclete Salgado". The group's work didn't fit neatly into one genre, drawing from various influences without settling into a single sound.
Sampaio faced personal difficulties, including struggles with substance abuse, which sometimes affected the band's dynamic. They kept recording through the 1970s, putting out "Antologia" in 1978. Their music, particularly "Antes Que Chova...... Depois Que Chova...", remained familiar to Brazilian listeners long after the trio's active years.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
