Serial Asesino formed in Mexico City in the mid-1980s with a lineup that included vocalist and guitarist Alfredo "El Asesino" Pérez, guitarist Raúl "El Macizo" Ramírez, bassist "El Loco" Guzmán, and drummer "El Brujo" Martínez. Their early live shows were raw and intense, drawing a cult following even as their lyrics about violence and depravity attracted criticism from authorities and conservative groups.
In 1990 they released their debut album "Infierno," which included the title track that became one of their most recognizable songs. The album found both critical and commercial success, establishing them in Mexico's metal scene. They followed with albums like "Holocausto" in 1992 and "Malditos" in 1994, working in a mix of thrash metal, death metal, and traditional heavy metal.
They became a particular touchpoint for certain segments of Mexico's youth during that period.
