Seth MacFarlane

Seth MacFarlane is known for creating animated shows like Family Guy and American Dad!, but he's also spent years recording music in the style of mid-century American pop. His first solo album, Music Is Better Than Words, came out in 2011 and featured classic standards. He followed it with Holiday for Swing in 2014 and several others, including No One Ever Tells You and In Full Swing.

MacFarlane's recordings lean heavily on the Great American Songbook tradition, with songs like My Way, Let's Face The Music And Dance, and Nine O'Clock. He's done duets with singers like Sara Bareilles on Baby, It's Cold Outside and Liz Gillies on Calcutta. The arrangements tend to be polished and big-band oriented, recalling the sound of Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin, whom he's cited as influences.

He recorded a cover of Billy Joel's Moving Out for a Family Guy episode in 2005, which got some attention for his vocal style. Since then, he's performed in concert specials and continued to release albums of swing and traditional pop material, most recently Great American Songbook in 2021.
