Archive material and source history

Seto no Hanayome formed in 2000 around vocalist Hiroko Moriguchi, guitarist Takahisa Iida, and bassist Katsuhiro Nakai. Their early work drew from traditional Japanese instruments and folk melodies, which gave their 2002 self-titled album its particular texture.

Moriguchi left in 2004, and the band brought in Mako Minami as the new vocalist. They kept recording, putting out albums like 'Ryusei' in 2004 and 'Hajimari' in 2007. That same year, their song 'Namida Ichirin' was picked as an anime theme, which drew some criticism from listeners who felt it was too mainstream.

By 2010 they had released 'Kimi to no Mirai', and the lineup settled with Minami on vocals, Iida on guitar, Nakai on bass, Yuji Nakayama on drums, and Tomohiko Matsumura on keyboards. Other songs in their catalog include 'Eiyuu no Shi', 'Lunarian', 'Matsuri No Uta', and 'Ashita He No Hikari'.
