Shadow Of The Colossus

Shadow of the Colossus formed in London in the early 2000s when vocalist Ethan Carter met guitarist James Blackwood. They were joined by bassist Luke Holden and drummer Chris Dean, and the quartet began playing small shows around the city. Their debut album 'Amygdala' came out in 2005, with the title track becoming something of an underground hit.

Their music combined heavy guitars and drums with Carter's distinctive vocals, creating a dense, atmospheric sound. Songs like 'Purgatory Of Eternal Suffering' and 'Shrine Of Worship' from their catalog show how they worked within that particular heavy metal space. Carter's lyrics often dealt with darker themes that some listeners found compelling and others found challenging.
