Shadowlord

Shadowlord came out of London in the mid-1990s, a heavy metal band fronted by vocalist Jamie Smith. Their lineup included guitarists Scott Reid and Paul Simpson, bassist Rob Walsh, and drummer Chris Savage. They put out a debut album called 'The Gathering' in 1996, but it was their second record that really connected with people.

That second album was 'Age of Discovery' in 1999, and the title track became something of an anthem. The record had a mix of melody and aggression that worked for them, with songs like 'Archangels fall' and 'Black Rain' showing their range. They toured steadily, building a following through those years.

In 2004, guitarist Scott Reid left the band. The existing history mentions drug abuse allegations around his departure, but the details are thin. The band kept going after that, though the lineup changes and whatever happened with Reid seemed to mark a shift. They've released other material since, but 'Age of Discovery' remains the album people know them for.
