Grain by Grain

You were gone for a month and I didnt think Id see you again.

I had plans when you got back. Your heart was mine to win.

I look into the box I made for you that holds my memories.

How can a feeling disappear so fast when you never thought it could leave?

I held you up on a hill

You were there and I was still,

Trying to climb to you,

Reach the summit, see the view.

But when I got there I was scared.

Most definitely not prepared

For what I saw was not in mind

A million people on the other side.

I didnt know what I was missing.

I dont know just where I went right

But Im at the top and it feels so right.

A grain of sand was lost today,

Caught a wave and swam away.

The beach it came from still looks just the same.

Whats the worth of one small grain?

I am worthless I am plain.

But together, we, the world, can change grain by grain.
