Shaila

Shaila was a Spanish band formed in the early 1990s, with Shaila Dúrcal on lead vocals and Miguel Gallardo on guitar and composition. Their debut album in 1994 included the song 'Para Darte Mi Vida', which became a hit and helped define their sound. They blended pop with flamenco and Latin rhythms, creating a style that felt both familiar and distinct.

Over the next few years, they released albums like 'Corazón Mío' in 1995 and 'Muñeca' in 1997, the latter paying tribute to 1950s music. Other tracks like 'Ahora y Siempre' and 'Por Ti' showcased their knack for emotive ballads and melodic hooks. Their music often carried a touch of Andalusian flair, thanks to Gallardo's guitar work.

Shaila faced some industry pressures to follow mainstream trends but generally stuck to their artistic vision. They also dealt with the loss of their manager, Juanjo Oliva, which affected the group. Despite these challenges, they kept recording and performing, with a compilation of their early work released in 1999.
