Shannon McNally

Shannon McNally grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee, where she absorbed the country, blues, and soul sounds around her. Her debut album 'Geronimo' came out in 2002, introducing a raw, soulful approach that found a home in the Americana scene. She followed it with records like 'Jukebox Sparrows' and 'Small Town Talk' over the next several years.

One of her best-known songs is 'Bohemian Wedding Prayer,' a ballad that caught on with its ethereal melody and lyrics about an unconventional couple. Another track, 'Let The Music Play,' shows her comfort with soulful grooves. Her live shows have developed a reputation for their direct, unvarnished quality.

In 2009, McNally was diagnosed with breast cancer, which interrupted her work for a time. She returned to recording with albums like 'The Waylon Sessions' and 'Black Irish,' continuing to write and perform on her own terms. Her music doesn't fit neatly into one category, but it holds to the roots influences she heard growing up.
