Archive material and source history

Sherbet formed in Sydney in 1970 with Daryl Braithwaite on vocals, Tony Mitchell on bass, Harvey James and Alan Sandow on guitars, and Rick Fenn on drums. They built a following in Australia's rock scene through energetic live shows and melodic songs.

In 1976, they released 'Can You Feel It Baby,' written by Braithwaite and Sandow. The single topped the Australian charts and became their most recognizable track. Other songs like 'Howzat' and 'Free The People' also found success during this period.

Fenn left the band in 1978 and was replaced by Gary Young. They released albums including 'Sherboot' in 1975 and 'Hotel Sherbet' in 1976, with 'Time Change' following in 1979. The group continued performing and recording into the early 1980s.
