Shinky formed in São Paulo in the late 2000s around MC Shink, born Fabio Shinkawa, who started writing about life in the city's favelas. He worked with producers DJ Will and DJ Nuts, and their music mixed rap with funk rhythms. Their song 'Jogo da Vida' featuring Babilonia came out in 2012 and got attention for how it talked about social inequality.
After that track, they kept putting out albums like 'Favela Vive 2' in 2014 and 'Na Batida do Gueto' in 2016. DJ Nuts died from cancer in 2017, and the group continued with MC Shink, DJ Will, and MC Xuxa. They released another album called 'O Mundo É Nosso' in 2019.
