Shinobi Ninja

Shinobi Ninja formed in the early 2000s around Max Hecker and Khotin, who shared an interest in experimental electronic music. Their debut album 'What If Times' came out in 2003, giving the band its name and establishing a sound that mixed ambient textures with trip-hop rhythms. The song 'What if Times' became their most recognizable track, built around Hecker's production and Khotin's contributions.

Over time, the group's lineup shifted while Hecker remained at the center. Other musicians like Simon Scott, Frederikke Hoffmeier, and Neneh Cherry have been part of Shinobi Ninja at different points. They followed their debut with albums like 'Haunted Heart' in 2007 and 'Severant' in 2013, continuing to work with electronic arrangements that felt both spacious and detailed.

Their music often dealt with themes of isolation and uncertainty, which came through in tracks like 'What if Times.' While they developed a following for their atmospheric sound, their experimental approach sometimes kept them from reaching a wider audience. The band's work stayed focused on mood and texture rather than conventional song structures.
