Shivaree formed in 1997 when Ambrosia Parsley and Danny McGough met in San Francisco. Their debut album arrived two years later with the unwieldy title 'I Oughtta Give You a Shot in the Head for Making Me Live in This Dump.' The record's lead single, 'Goodnight Moon,' became their most recognizable song, built around Parsley's breathy vocals and a sparse, haunting arrangement.
They released four more studio albums over the next sixteen years, including 'Rough Dreams' in 2002 and 'Who's Got Trouble?' in 2005. Their sound often drifted between dream pop and trip-hop, with songs like 'I Close My Eyes' and 'Bossa Nova' showcasing their preference for moody, atmospheric textures over conventional pop structures.
Their final album, 'Love, Death, and Sensitivity,' came out in 2015. The band's catalog remains a particular, somewhat elusive body of work anchored by that one breakthrough single, which continues to surface in film and television years later.
