Shook Ones

Shook Ones formed in New York City in the late 1980s, with members including Lord Finesse, Diamond D, Butch Cassidy, and Capital Punishment. Their debut album 'Proud To Be A Thug' came out in 1990, featuring tracks like 'Attitude Is The Agent' and 'Ebb And Flow' that became known for their raw lyrical approach.

Their music often dealt with themes from inner-city life, delivered with a straightforward energy that connected with listeners. Songs such as 'Bad Year' and 'First Lunch, Then War' reflected this direct style, avoiding polished production in favor of something more immediate.

After a hiatus, the group reunited in the early 2000s and kept making music, though their later work didn't reach the same commercial level as their earlier material. They're remembered for that initial run in the early '90s, when their sound felt particularly grounded in its time and place.
