Short Kut formed in the early 2000s with Shaan on vocals, Clinton Cerejo handling production and piano, and Ehsaan Noorani on guitar. Their debut album "Kaash" didn't find much commercial traction in 2002, but they kept working.
In 2006 they put out their self-titled album "Short Kut." Around that time they faced accusations about their song "Saanson Ke" using a melody from R.D. Burman without permission, which Burman later confirmed.
Their song "Kal Nau Baje" came out in 2009 and connected with listeners across India. They also had another track called "Kyun Hota Hai Dil Deewana."
