A four-piece from Queensland that broke through with "Princess" in 2009.
If you want the Short Stack sound, start with "Enough For Now" and "Shimmy a Go Go." That's the core of it.
Short Stack mattered because they captured a certain teenage Australian energy in the late 2000s. Songs like "Enough For Now" and "Shimmy a Go Go" became staples for a reason, and even a track like "Amy" sparked enough debate to get the Classification Board's attention. They were never subtle, but they felt real to their audience.
They formed in Toowoomba in 2005 and got their chart break with "Princess" in 2009. They put out three albums by 2014, with drummer Damien Arnold leaving in 2010. Tracks like "Bang Bang Sexy" and "Counting The Stars" kept their pop-rock sound going through those years.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
