Siakol

Siakol formed in Marikina City in 2001. Their name comes from the Tagalog word for "whip," which fits with the direct, sometimes confrontational tone of their lyrics. The band's original lineup included Arnel Pineda on vocals, Jason Caballa and Mike Constancia on guitars, Manuel Marasigan on bass, and Sharwin Mangoba on drums.

Their song "Hagupit" became a hit, connecting with listeners who recognized its social commentary. Other tracks like "Gawing Langit Ang Mundo" and "Bakit ba" followed a similar path, mixing punk and hard rock sounds with lyrics about everyday struggles. They released albums including "Tibok ng Masa," "Hagupit," and "Sandata."

Pineda left in 2006 to work on solo material, with Japs Mendoza stepping in as vocalist. He returned to the band in 2012, which led to a reunion tour. Their music has kept a straightforward, energetic quality that doesn't smooth over the rough edges.
