Siam Shade formed in 1991 with guitarist Hikaru and bassist Natin, later adding vocalist Hideki and drummer Junji. They started playing live houses in Tokyo, building a following with energetic shows. Their debut album came out in 1995, and the single '1/3 no Junjou na Kanjou' became a hit. Other songs like 'Life' and '1999' also found an audience.
Their lyrics sometimes touched on alienation and sexuality, which drew some criticism at the time. The band kept releasing albums through the late '90s, including 'Trip Junkie' and 'Get a Life!'. Drummer Junji left in 1999 and was replaced by Kazuma.
Siam Shade went on hiatus in 2002. Their music, with Hideki's raw vocals and Hikaru's guitar work, still gets played. Songs like 'Fly High' and 'Setsunasa Yori Mo Tooku E' show the range they had during their active years.
