Sidilarsen formed in La Rochelle, France in 1992 with Olivier Libaux on vocals and guitar, Mathieu Rabaté on bass, and Laurent Agnèlet on drums. Their early material had a raw, grunge-influenced sound that felt different from what other French rock bands were doing at the time.
Their 1997 album 'Silence Encens Violence' caused some trouble with radio stations because of its lyrics, but they kept working. Over the next decade and a half they released several more records, including 'Les Yeux Noirs' in 2000 and 'Aucun Regret' in 2011.
People still talk about 'A Qui Je Nuis Me Pardonne,' a song from their first album that got covered by Johnny Hallyday. Other tracks like 'Deuxieme Vie' and 'Acide Occident' show the band's range, moving between heavier rock and more reflective moments.
