Siena Root formed in Finland in 2004, with members who shared an interest in Celtic and world music. The group includes Kimmo Perämäki on vocals and guitar, Petri Hannula on electric violin and keyboards, Mikko Partanen on drums, and Johanna Vakkuri on bass. They released their first album, 'Shades of Grey,' in 2005.
Their 2007 album 'Ravenstone' came out around the same time their record label went bankrupt, which created some financial difficulties for the band. They kept working anyway, putting out 'The Secret of Our Time' in 2009 and 'A Travelogue of the Mind' in 2012.
One of their better-known tracks is 'Coming Home,' which features Hannula's violin work over a melodic, atmospheric arrangement. They've also recorded songs like 'Outlander' and 'Shine.' The band released 'Passage to Dawn' in 2015 and 'A Legacy of Forgotten Souls' in 2017.
