Silversun Pickups

Silversun Pickups formed in Los Angeles in 1994, with Brian Aubert on vocals and guitar, Nikki Monninger on bass, Joe Lester on keyboards, and Christopher Guanlao on drums. Their first album, Pikul, came out in 2005, followed by Carnavas in 2006, which included the song Lazy Eye. They've kept releasing albums since, like Swoon in 2009 and Physical Thrills in 2022.

Their music often gets described as atmospheric rock with dream pop and shoegaze elements, drawing comparisons to bands like The Cure and Cocteau Twins. Songs like Panic Switch and Circadian Rhythm (Last Dance) show their style of layered guitars and introspective lyrics. They're known for putting on intense live shows that match the mood of their recordings.

In 2009, during the Swoon era, a fan died at one of their concerts, which affected the band deeply. They've also faced some criticism over similarities between Lazy Eye and older songs by other artists. Their work tends to explore themes of isolation and emotional complexity without sticking to one genre.
