Simplória formed in São Paulo in 2014 as a quartet with André Gabeh on vocals, Daniel Vitor on guitar, Leandro Petzold on bass, and Ariel Andrade on drums. Their sound pulls from post-punk and goth rock, with a mood that leans toward the dark and melancholic.
In 2016 they put out their debut single, "Sinônimo de Morte." The song's bleak tone drew some criticism, but it also found an audience and became something of a cult track for listeners drawn to that style.
They followed it with an EP in 2017 and full-length albums in 2019 and 2021. The band has played shows around Brazil and South America, keeping to a fairly steady lineup since they started.
