Sinclair formed in 1992 around vocalist Mathieu Blanc-Francard and guitarist Manu Chaumuzeau. Their debut album 'L'inconscient collectif' came out in 1995, with the title track becoming an early signature. The band's third album, 'L'âme légère' from 1997, brought mainstream attention, especially through its title track, which became a French radio staple.
That same song 'L'âme légère' was at the center of a 1999 legal dispute when it was used in a commercial without the band's consent. Sinclair kept releasing albums after that, including '555' in 2001, 'Paradisio' in 2004, and 'Le grand frisson' in 2007. Other songs like 'Tranquille' and 'A la vitesse du soleil' also became part of their catalog.
