Sister Machine Gun

Sister Machine Gun formed in Chicago in the late 1980s, with Chris Randall as the frontman. They started playing shows that were chaotic enough to sometimes get them arrested or have their gear taken away. Their early sound was raw and confrontational, and they built a following in the alternative scene.

Despite that, they kept putting out records like 'First Strike' and 'Brother and Flesh'. The music shifted over time from harsh industrial noise toward something more melodic, but it never lost its intensity.

Randall and drummer Jim Vallance were the consistent members through various lineup changes. Other musicians like Jim Nash and Chris Connelly came through the band, adding to its experimental edge. They were part of that Chicago industrial scene in the '90s, making music that was both aggressive and strangely tuneful at times, as you can hear on tracks like 'Admit' and 'Bitter End'.
