Sixlight formed in 2012 with Patryk Żywczyk on vocals and guitar, Mateusz Słabym on drums, and Wojciech Kaczmarek on bass. Their debut single 'The Departure' came out not long after, and it caught on in Poland. The song's moody, reflective feel seemed to connect with listeners, and it helped put them on the map.
They released their first album, 'Moments,' in 2015. That record included 'The Departure' and another track called 'Paradise.' The band has put out two more albums since then: 'Rebirth' in 2018 and 'Closer' in 2021. Their sound has some alternative rock in it, with touches of post-hardcore and metalcore.
At one point, Sixlight got into a legal dispute with their former label, Universal Music Polska, over the rights to their music. The band came out of it okay. They've worked with a few other Polish artists over time, like Dawid Podsiadło and Taco Hemingway.
